ZAAZ KOOLEN HÁA CENOTE YOKDZONOT
Yokdzonot, which in Mayan language means "over the cenote", is a cenote of 40 meters in diameter and 45 meters deep that is located within the community of the same name. The town is located less than 20 km from the archaeological site of Chichen Itza, which gives it a constant tourist flow that over the years has allowed them to grow and perform various activities.
In 2005, as a result of a project promoted by the National Commission for the Development of Indigenous Peoples (CDI), residents of Yokdzonot joined together to clean the cenote and make it a valuable tourist resource.
Today, the cooperative is made up mostly of women from the community. This cenote is the favorite stop after visiting Chichen Itza, you can swim in its crystal clear waters, jump on the zip line and rappel down its vertical walls admiring the flora and fauna found around this body of water. At the end of your visit you can enjoy a delicious traditional meal at the cooperative's restaurant or even camp around the cenote.
