WOTOCH AAYIN
LA CASA DEL COCODRILO
Ecotourism center, conservation and sustainable use of wildlife operated by a family cooperative composed of 7 families (12 members) of the locality. Located in the community of Isla Arena, Calkiní, Campeche, within the Ría Celestún Biosphere Reserve.
The project began in 2000 for the reproduction of the Moreletii crocodile, which was in danger of extinction and is currently subject to special protection. Operations began legally in 2008, with the creation of a UMA (Management Unit for the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Wildlife).
Currently, the cooperative operates the Moreletii crocodile UMA and provides high quality sustainable tourism services to nature lovers who wish to live authentic and participatory experiences that help the development of the community and the environment. You can take tours through the UMA, hiking, kayaking, enjoy local gastronomy of fish, seafood and crocodile from our farm, and at dusk you can see hundreds of fireflies and hopefully marine bioluminescence.
At the end of your trip, you will feel much lighter, connected with nature, you will know much more about the crocodile, its habitat, the local culture and gastronomy, as well as the sustainable use of our natural resources to promote their preservation and care.
