Due to the low yield of fish production, in 2008 a group of fishermen decided to organize and start a tourism project that would allow them to supplement their income. Thus was born the cooperative society San Felipe y Naturaleza, which began to offer boat tours to visit nature trails among the mangroves and rest on an island near the port.

Today the cooperative has more than 10 years of experience in adventure and nature tourism, with alliances between local service providers to offer lodging and food services in the town.
