Isla Valor is a cooperative society established at the end of 2016. The cooperative is made up of local families from Isla Aguada who used to dedicate themselves to artisanal fishing.

 

Taking advantage of the increase in visitors local families begin to adapt their fishing boats for the comfort of tourists finding a less risky way to generate income for the household.

 

The cooperative society was formed at the end of 2016, however, alternative tourism activities had already been taking place for 12 years. Through guided tours in the Sabancuy estuary, the area of islets within the Laguna de Términos, mangrove area and lagoons of Isla Aguada.
